How to Re-authorize or unlink paytm with Uber India App

Having and active Uber and Paytm account is good, but if something goes wrong from either Uber or paytm side, you the customer suffers a lot. You can't book your ride back home, you can't book ride to airport, railway station. It becomes annoying to have such messy technical app. We cannot predict what may happen in future but we may be ready with some preparation.

Uber does all account sweep for security measures from time to time, if it finds any suspicion, it blocks account, put hold on booking a ride, asks for re-verification of ID or payment method. Recently Paytm was hacked and some hacker were able to make payment in paytm from some other account, hance Uber took security measure and put hold on some accounts.

The above image shows Merchants Authorized by you, where you can see Uber if you have already added paytm with uber.

How to Re-authorize or unlink paytm with Uber India App


  1. Login to paytm account on website or register paytm
  2. Navigate to Merchant Authorized By You page
  3. Click on 'Remove' button to unlink Paytm with Uber.
  4. Open Uber app in mobile, it should ask for re-authorization via OTP(One Time Password).
  5. Open Payment Method, select Paytm and it will ask for OTP.
  6. OTP will be send to your mobile, if not received, you can use Resend OTP button to try again.

How to Change Paytm Account in Uber


  1. Change your Mobile number(Set to new paytm account Mobile number) in Uber account, in mobile or website.
  2. Check how may payment method you already have in Uber like Paytm, Cash (Only in India Hyderabad), International Credit Card
  3. If you have more then 1 payment method, then delete exisitng Paytm, otherwise add one more payment method then delete paytm method.
  4. Re-add paytm, now it will add paytm for newly changed mobile number.

7 Uber Hacks You Should Be Using

1. Schedule your Uber

I've heard from 2 separate Uber drivers that they're coordinated with clients to drive the same morning commute every day. If you regularly take the same Uber route and have established rapport with your driver, get their phone number so you can schedule them at a mutually convenient time. This works best if it's extremely convenient for your driver (e.g. you live near your driver and can start your morning together every day). If you actually get this to work, cherish your new friendship!

2. Get Free Uber Credit by Referring your Friends

Invest some effort to get people around you to sign up for Uber, and you'll get a free ride (usually Rs300-Rs600). I've had success with this by just sending over my referral link over my college group. This is getting harder and harder as Uber gets more established.

3. Avoid Bad Uber Drivers

If you have encounter an Uber Driver that you never want to ride with again, then rate them 3 or fewer stars, and you will never be matched with them again.

4. Minimize Wait Time

To minimize the time you have to wait to get an Uber, 
          1) call your Uber ahead of time, before you actually get to the pickup point 
          2) call your Uber driver right after they get assigned to you, to make sure they know where to pick you up. 
It is NOT advisable to keep your Uber driver waiting for you for too long, since this can severely annoy your driver and decrease your passenger rating.

5. Get Refunded for your Grievances

If you ever have a less-than-satisfactory Uber ride (your ride is unsafe, or your driver took a less-than-optimal route), you can contact Uber support and complain. If you have a valid grievance, they will usually give you a ride credit as a redress within 24 hours. I've done this multiple times  via email with good results.

6. Uber through the Drive-Through

You can ask your Uber driver to detour through the drive-through. Just a warning that some Uber Drivers are not amused at this, since the time-rate for Uber rides is poor, and you won't be paying for any mileage while you're waiting for your burger. Your Uber Driver may retaliate by rating you low, which brings me to...

7. Find out your Uber Passenger Rating

I haven't really found a use for this, but you can learn what your Uber passenger rating is. Your Uber Driver will see this rating whenever they decide whether or not to pick you up. If your rating is low, that might explain why it's taking so long for a car to confirm you. If your rating is super-low, then you might get banned from the system. Follow these tips to ensure a 5-Star Uber experience: 
  1. Confirm you’re getting in the right Uber. Double check the license plate number matches the car’s plate and photo matches the driver. Confirm your driver’s name and tell him your name.
  2. Need to contact your driver? Tap the “up arrow” next to the driver info and select “Contact Driver” to call or text your driver.
  3. Share your journey in real time. Use the “Share My ETA” feature to send your friends or family a map of your route and expected time of arrival.

  • Help keep your driver’s vehicle clean. Put yourself in the shoes of the next rider.

  • Riding Uber means there’s no need to pay cash! (Unless you are opted for Cash payment in Hyderabad- Uber is testing cash payment in Hyderabad.)When you get to your destination, you can simply hop out and be on your way.
  • Rate your driver based on your driver’s performance and quality of service. Drivers do not control the fare. If you have a question, reply to your receipt and we’ll be happy to review your fare!

  • Double-check your pick-up location on the map in the Uber app before hitting the ‘Request’ button. Pinning your location properly will save both you AND the driver valuable time so you can get going sooner. When in large buildings, try your best to drop the pin near the street where you’ll be waiting.
  • Request your ride only when you’re ready to go.

FARE SPLITTING = FAIR SPLITTING

Splitting the dinner bill with your friends is complicated. Sharing the ride home isn’t!

How to split your fare once you’ve requested a ride:
  • Tap the “up arrow” next to your driver’s info and select “Split Fare”.
  • Select the friends you’re riding with and tap “Send”.
  • Your Uber-savvy friends will receive a message and taken directly to the app to confirm.
  • Your friends without Uber will be asked to download the app, sign up, and confirm their share of the ride.

Govt Bans Uber and Ola website in Delhi but they still operating

An Uber executive said, 
This has been going on. We know that the ministry of IT had been asked to block the site, but we are not aware of this Delhi ban.
According to rough industry estimates, there are 19 radio taxi operators in the country, including Mega Cabs, Easy Cabs, Meru Cabs, and Tab Cabs. These operators run about 25,000 cabs across the country.

All the can aggregation companies are trying to capture market share so hard that they are running down each other. Be it customer or drivers, they are giving many discounts, signup bonus and other perks to get on board.
