Thiruvananthapuram, Nashik 2 more indian city in Uber coverage from Today |
Uber is thrilled to be growing so quickly in India, in fact over the last two months alone, Uber has doubled their footprint in India going from 11 cities in June to 22 cities* today.
Uber launched in India less than two years ago and our rapid expansion has made India the largest geographic market for Uber after the United States. We have a current base of over 150,000 driver entrepreneurs and continue to witness robust 40 percent month on month growth, which has quickly helped us gain significant market share in India of over 35 percent.
Uber is keeping itself in the news and in customer’s minds by launching a series of India-focussed measures. Last week, it tied up with the country’s leading mobile services provider, Bharti Airtel, to launch in-ride wi-fi for its customers by providing drivers with devices that create 4G wi-fi hotspots in their cars. In July, it announced plans to invest $1 billion in India over the coming months to develop new products. It has added new payment options, allowing customers to pay through multiple channels, including cash in some cities.
