Uber is trying its hand in many fields from restaurant food delivery via uberEATS, gold coin deliver in India on festival, ice cream delivery by name uberICECREAM, fresh vegetables delivery by uberFRESH, uber is trying all the option to leverage its existing platform and existing driver partner network all over the world.
Uber drivers are mobile partners, they are always on the run and moving people around the city, so this time Uber came up with Idea of same-day delivery of goods from local retailers. Recently Uber introduced merchant program in some cities, this is the extension of the same program.
Uber Merchant Program
According to TC article: Uber has been getting deeper into the delivery space of late, with investments in delivering fresh produce with UberFresh, as well as the recent launch of UberEats in Chicago and New York (already available in Los Angeles and Barcelona), letting users order curated meals for lunch and dinner that are delivered curbside by UberEats drivers.
The company also launched a program called UberEssentials that delivered household goods to a user’s home on-demand, but that service was run as a limited test and eventually shuttered.
The merchant program seems to target higher-end brands with an online retail presence, offering the ability to deliver inventory that is locally available on the same day that a customer places the order. For an added fee, of course.

The popular ride-hailing service is planning a partnership announcement this fall with big retailers and fashion brands that could number in the dozens, as it looks to make Uber an express delivery option for shoppers on a wide range of shopping websites and apps, according to three sources. Uber could announce the partnerships as soon as late September or early October, these people said.
Two people familiar with the rollout say it will start in New York City and include among its partnerships some flashy, luxury brands whose flagship stores are usually found on or around Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Partnerships with retailers in San Francisco will be announced at the same time or soon after, another source said. It’s not clear which specific retailers and brands will be included in the initial launch.
