Uber is deploying disguised phone number technology in India. This ensures that all calls between riders and driver-partners are connected using anonymous phone numbers — so both sides can communicate with each other to coordinate a pick-up without revealing their personal phone numbers.

Its really good move to hide numbers from each other, specially woman customers will feel more safe as they don't want to share their numbers with unknown people.
You just need to update your app to get this feature if you want to call to driver. All the drivers app will be updated automatically so now onward driver will not know your number.
